A large and quite exceptional specimen of GEMMY light-olive Barite crystals from the finds at Cerro Warihuynin in Peru. It features a two-sided, self-standing array of lustrous, nicely transparent Barite crystal blades artfully arranged into the graceful fan-like formation pictured. The crystals exhibit superb crystal form and sharp edges. They are also FLUORESCENT under both longwave and shortwave UV light, and PHOSPHORESCENT under shortwave UV light. Curiously, it appears that only the later stages of growth exhibit these optical properties (see below) In excellent condition, quite remarkable for this delicate material.
