Pyrite from Navajun, La Rioja, Spain
$65.00An amazing and quite beautiful specimen of cubic Pyrite from Spain. It features three MIRROR-BRIGHT cubes of golden Pyrite intergrown with one another to create a fantastic formation that is quite attractive no matter which side you view it from. MUCH SHINIER in person. I purchased this cluster directly from the mine owner, who informed me that virtually all such “chains” of Pyrite cubes from this locality are reconstructed after removal from the hard clay host rock; this piece is no exception. A really choice example of this material, with a very graceful composition that is dazzling all the way around. I’ve included a short VIDEO showing all sides of the specimen to give you a good idea of its three-dimensional shape.

It features a diamond shaped crystal of Muscovite with a ring of pink Lepidolite around the edges. The central section of the crystal is nicely translucent (see below). Hematite from Irhoud Mine, Safi Province , Morocco

Similar to the classic material from Cumberland, England, it is also called “kidney ore” because of its resemblance to that organ.
